In the latest episode of The Christian Civics Podcast, we welcome Matt Watson, pastor of Christ City Church in Washington, DC, to discuss how his congregation navigated the recent government shutdown and what this specific ministry experience can teach us all about Christian community moving forward. Matt is pretty open about the ways his congregation impressed him and the ways his congregation said that church leadership could be doing better.   • Matt Watson is pastor and church planter of Christ City Church DC. Before planting Christ City Church, Matt served as a pastor at District Church, worked as a project director at One By One Leadership and taught at Fresno Pacific University.

  • Rick Barry is Executive Director of Center for Christian Civics, where he helps ministry leaders and faith communities develop missional approaches to their local public squares. He has worked on campaigns for local, state and federal office, is a former writer and editor for Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City and oversaw communications for the Grace DC church network. He and his wife live in Washington, DC.
