Faith & Politics with Christ City Church

Four weeks of presentations on Christian life in the public square

Wednesdays, May 8, 15, 22 & 29

The Center for Christian Civics will host this four-week seminar from Christ City Church exploring the role that followers of Jesus can play as peacemakers and thoughtfully engaged citizens. The seminar will examine historic streams of Christian political engagement and thought as well as consider ways Christians can engage the political and common good arenas – both locally and nationally. Additional consideration will be given to the unique roles churches can play in eroding political polarization as a witness to the Kingdom of God. Christian Civics Podcast guest Pastor Matthew Watson will facilitate a series of speakers, including Center for Christian Civics Executive Director Rick Barry and friends of our organization like Dr. Peter Baker.

Christian Fidelity in a Fractured World

 The Center for Christian Civics will be hosting a one-night-only panel discussion around Jake Meador’s upcoming book, In Search of the Common Good: Christian Fidelity in a Fractured World (InterVarsity Press, 2019). We’ll facilitate a discussion between Meador and a small panel of pastors, professors and political professionals, using the book as a jumping-off point to discuss some of the most pressing questions facing Christians in the public square today. Center for Christian Civics co-founders Rick Barry and Daniel Leiva will be speaking at the Cru staff conference in Colorado this summer. Our founders have deep and personal investments in Cru’s ministry—Rick came to faith in part through Cru; Danny’s family have been Cru missionaries for generations, and he met his wife through her work with his parents in Cru.
